nylon-carpetPurchasing carpet for your home can help with your heating and insulation bills.

It keeps the heat from escaping through the floor of your house. Many people do not like walking on a bare floor.

So having carpet on their floor is very important to them.

Nylon carpet is cheaper to own than wool or other natural fibres.

But how do you keep Nylon Carpet clean?

Here are a few tips to help you do that:

  • Because nylon is synthetic you will want to clean it as often as possible. Some types do have a stain resistant protection to help it from staining this makes it easier to keep clean than wool. You should watch any areas that have a constant flow of traffic. These spots will get dirty first.
  • You will need to keep any grime, deposits or dirt from accumulating on the carpet. This can be done by the use of a vacuum. It doesn’t need to be a special one with fancy gadgets. But it should get to all areas especially any corners that are hard to reach.
  • You can use carpet cleaning powders to keep it fresh. Or even a spray on cleanser can help you freshen up the carpet. This will eliminate odors from pets or even foods that are cooked which may penetrate the fibers.
  • If the carpet becomes wet it needs to be dried as soon as possible. Although Nylon is a synthetic fibre which is resistant to many types of decay that natural fibres are more susceptible to, Nylon carpet can still retain a mildew odor from being damp for a long period of time. A wet dry vacuum can help to pull the excess water from the rug to decrease the smell. A dehumidifier can even pull water up without you doing a lot of work.
  • For any carpet that is not installed it is best to allow it to get plenty of sunlight. The heat from the sun also helps to keep it clean. You can beat it outside to remove tough debris that has been trapped within the fibers that would not come up with a vacuum. This prevents dust from recirculating. People with allergies may need to wear a mask to cover their face when cleaning the rug.
  • It is important to read the information that comes with the carpet. For Nylon Rugs, if it is possible to wash it in a machine then you can do so. If it does not state this it is vital not to do so even for a soiled one. It can possibly damage the carpet or pull any fibres out which may leave it bare in many places.

A nylon carpet has many benefits. It is cheaper to own. Some have stain resistant material to make it easier to clean. It can be suited to fit your color design and size that you need. To keep it clean and looking new it must be cleaned per the manufacturer’s instructions. This includes vacuuming any debris, using spray cleansers when necessary, and even taking it outside in the sun. Don’t use any harsh solvents or wash in a machine to prevent any damage to the carpet.
